Toy Story 2 :- Watch Toy Story 2 on Youtube on Fire, The only bad thing about the end of the Cold War is the end of Cold War jokes. Laughs about East German architecture and Soviet gymnasts just ain’t what they used to be. Contemplating next week’s trip to the Berlin Film Festival “to infinity and beyond”, as Buzz Lightyear would say I was looking forward to telling you that I would be your spy on the wall at this year’s exciting Filmfestspiele. Then I remembered the end of Cold War jokes: there is no Wall, and the spies are a bit thin on the ground now too. Another outdated Germanism came to mind this week while watching Toy Story 2, which is a very good film indeed. The phrase was not from Thomas Mann, or Bertold Brecht, or any of those guys with big heads and small glasses. It was in fact the slogan from the Audi advertising campaign: “Vorsprung durch Technik”. That is what I thought about during Toy Story 2 progress through technology. Your film column this week announces the end of all blather about computer technology representing the annihilation of human feeling. This rubbish has gone on long enough, and now that we are all grown-up, well-partied, 21st-century veterans we must accept that computers can be a pure enhancement of human capacities. If you don’t believe this then I urge you to go and see Toy Story 2 immediately. The film is humane in ways that few live-action films ever are. These computer-animated figures are brought.
