Lung II :- Watch Lung II on Youtube on Fire,A nameless man wanders the city, littered with necrotic artifacts and a trail of corpses. Are his grotesque hallucinations clues to a violent past? Or are they premonitions? Flowers, the debut feature from Phil Stevens, was one of my favorite independent genre films of 2015. Lung II is his follow-up, and despite appearing to follow very quickly after Flowers, it’s just as carefully designed. It’s also a lot more abstract than that film, which is saying something. Lung II skirts the line between narrative and experimental film, presenting a character who wanders around a mostly desolate urban landscape. In some ways it feels like a companion film to Flowers–a male counterpart, maybe–in that it has a very similar look and tone. On initial viewing, Lung II was not as immediately compelling for me as Flowers was, but that’s not to say it isn’t another wildly unique independent genre film made with a singular vision. Stevens is clearly a talent to keep an eye on.elcome back to Film Gutter, and rest assured it’s been a long time since I’ve been looking forward to dipping my toes into a movie this much. Last year I was lucky enough to catch Phil Stevens’ Flowers, which no doubt you’ve all heard me waxing lyrical about. Flowers scored a perfect 10/10 and was my top film of 2015 here at Film Gutter. So, when I was offered the chance to watch Lung II before its official release, you can bet I snatched that invitation with both hands. Phil Stevens’ second feature is a prequel to Flowers, and that’s about all I knew besides two things – one, this movie didn’t have any dialogue either. And two, this one was in black and white. But if this one matched up to – or even came close to Flowers – then I knew this was going to be something special.
